Amman City Tour — Half Day
About This Tour
Amman rewards even a few spare hours — and this compact private tour makes every one of them count. We start at the King Abdullah I Mosque, the 'Blue Mosque', whose magnificent blue-tiled dome shelters one of the largest prayer halls in Jordan; non-Muslim visitors are welcome, and it is one of the few mosques in the country open to tourists. From there we climb to the Citadel, the hill where Amman began: nine thousand years of continuous habitation crowned by the Roman Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace and views over a sea of white houses spread across the capital's nineteen hills.
Below the Citadel, carved into the hillside of the old downtown, waits the 6,000-seat Roman Theatre — still hosting concerts two millennia after it was built. There is time to sit in the ancient cavea, browse the small folklore museums flanking the stage, and feel the pulse of the surrounding souk district before we return you to your hotel. It is the perfect first morning in Jordan, a layover well spent, or a half day reclaimed between longer adventures — at the most accessible price of any tour we run.
