⛺ Bedouin Desert Camping
About This Adventure
Wadi Rum has some of the darkest skies in the Middle East — almost no light pollution, dry air, and a horizon that goes on forever. Sleeping here is less camping and more staring upward with your mouth open until you fall asleep.
Bedouin camps range from simple mattress-on-rug setups under goat-hair tents to elaborately furnished "glamping" operations with private bubble domes, proper beds, and surprisingly good Wi-Fi. The choice says a lot about what kind of traveller you are, and neither is wrong.
Evenings involve a campfire, tea brewed in a blackened pot, a dinner of slow-cooked zarb (meat and vegetables buried in hot coals), and the silence of one of the largest protected areas in Jordan. It is genuinely affecting, even for people who describe themselves as "not really a camping person."

Winter nights (December–February) drop to 0–10°C — ask about heating and blanket provision before booking, and bring a warm layer regardless of what they tell you. Spring sandstorms arrive without warning and can fill your tent, your dinner, and your lungs with fine red dust. Facilities are basic at most camps; manage expectations accordingly.
