🌊 Wadi al-Mujib Canyoning (Siq Trail)
About This Adventure
The Mujib Siq Trail is Jordan's most popular adventure hike, and for very good reason: a 2 km wade upstream through a slotted canyon that narrows to shoulder-width in places, water rushing around your waist, limestone walls rising 100 m on either side, and a waterfall and swimming hole waiting at the end.
The trail is upstream only — you wade in, reach the waterfall, then wade back out against the same current. It is not technically difficult but it is physically demanding: cold water, uneven submerged river cobbles, sections requiring hand-over-hand on fixed ropes, and current that pushes back the whole way in.
The canyon is managed by the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature (RSCN) and is only open in the warmer months. Entry requires a life jacket (provided) and is self-guided on the marked route.

⚠️ Critical Weather Warning
FLASH FLOOD RISK IS CRITICAL — the trail is closed when rain is forecast anywhere in the watershed, which extends far beyond what you can see from the canyon. Do not enter the canyon if staff show any hesitation about conditions. Water temperature is 10–15°C year-round; cold shock is a genuine risk for people with heart conditions. Slippery submerged surfaces cause most injuries. Waterproof phone case essential; everything gets wet.
