About This Adventure
Zarqa Ma'in is unusual even by Jordan's standards. A series of hot springs (40–60°C) pour over a cliff edge directly into a cold canyon river, creating a surreal experience of simultaneously freezing and burning depending on which stream you step into. It's thermally confusing and completely wonderful.
The canyoning route descends alongside the main waterfall cascade, using fixed anchors and ropes to navigate sections where the thermal water makes footing treacherous. The contrast between hot mineral water above and cold river water below is dramatic enough that most people stand in the mixing zone longer than they intended.
The Zarqa Ma'in springs are also accessible as a spa visit (no canyoning required) — the main canyon approach leads to public hot pools used by local Jordanian families for generations. The canyoning extension goes further into the canyon proper.

Weather Warning
Slippery surfaces around thermal water are a genuine hazard — algae growth on hot-spring wetted rock makes grip unpredictable. Thermal water temperatures (40–60°C) can cause burns if you stay in the hottest channels; the guide will direct you away. Water temperature swings between hot spring outflows and cold river inflows happen over metres — sudden cold immersion after heat is a cardiac stress risk for people with heart conditions.
